A SELECTION OF MY WORK
Young Adult Fiction and Graphic Novels
I work with YA fiction authors to develop their manuscripts in the early stages. I also copy-edit YA fiction series, implementing a coherent series style and ensuring that the characterisation and world-building details remain consistent throughout. I have worked mainly on YA fantasy and contemporary fiction.
I have commissioned and project-managed several graphic novel series for the YA market, including Dark Tales, four dark retellings of well-known fairy tales and classic horror stories. I worked with script writers to adapt the original text into scripts, briefed illustrators to create the artwork and collaborated with them to develop the storyboards.
I have worked on over 100 books from the Titan Books fiction list which covers TV and film novelisations and tie-ins, fantasy, horror, steampunk and science fiction. I have copy-edited and proofread books for HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster, and from the Warhammer 40,000 series for Black Library (Games Workshop). I have edited novels by romantic fiction authors including Michele Gorman and Christine Manby, and I copy-edited the Lilly Bartlett series for Harper Impulse. I also work with self-published authors on developmental edits and copy-edits.
I have worked on developmental edits and copy-edits of many travel narratives for Summersdale (Octopus), including Samantha Brick’s Head Over Heels in France and Felicity Aston’s Call of the White, a finalist in the Banff Mountain Book Competition in 2011. I also collaborate directly with authors on developmental edits: I worked with Levison Wood to prepare his manuscript Eastern Horizons to submit to publishers, which went on to be signed up by Hodder & Stoughton and was shortlisted for the 2018 Edward Stanford Award.
